Job Overview

Benefits Processing Specialist – Human Services – full‑time, District of Eagle County. Salary range $25.50–$29.96 per hour, maximum $34.42.

Description

As a Benefits Processing Specialist, you will determine eligibility for public assistance programs (Medical Assistance, Food Assistance, Adult Financial, Colorado Works) and conduct client interviews. You will process case updates, manage tasks in the electronic workflow system, refer clients to additional services, and assist with emergency assistance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accurately assess client eligibility for public assistance programs.
  • Process applications and conduct client interviews.
  • Manage case updates and maintain accurate records.
  • Provide customer service to diverse clients, including those in crisis.
  • Navigate complex program rules and stay informed on updates.
  • Build relationships with community partners.
Qualifications
  • Required:

    bilingual English/Spanish language skills (skills test administered).
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Associate’s degree in public administration, business, behavioral science, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum two years full‑time experience in data entry, medical coding, banking, or similar data‑centric roles; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Experience with Colorado human services databases (e.g., CBMS, CHATS) preferred.
  • Valid Colorado driver’s license within 1 month; satisfactory motor vehicle record.
  • Availability for travel within Eagle County and reliable transportation.
