Mile High Youth Corps (MHYC) is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization established in 1992 to give youth ages 18 to 24 a chance to earn an income and learn hands‑on job skills while serving in their communities. In its first year, 20 youth served Denver neighborhoods through a single 10‑week program. Today, MHYC engages over 250 youth (called Corps members) every year through several comprehensive programs that integrate paid work experience on community service projects with leadership development, career exploration, and education.

During its 30 year history, Mile High Youth Corps has grown from a small, seasonal, neighborhood‑based organization to a comprehensive, year‑round, regional program serving 23 counties from two regional offices, Metro Denver and the Southern Front Range.

Mile High Youth Corps (MHYC) is a nonprofit organization that helps young adults build skills, education, and career pathways through meaningful service opportunities. MHYC Corps members support communities across Colorado through programs focused on construction, conservation, and workforce development. The Sustainable Trades Pathways (STP) program at MHYC is a 20‑week pre‑apprenticeship opportunity designed to prepare young adults for careers in sustainable trades.

The STP Crew Leader will serve as a peer leader and mentor while participating fully in STP training, certifications, and service projects. The crew leader helps facilitate service‑learning activities, supports team development and accountability, and serves alongside staff to create a positive and successful experience for Corps members. The STP Crew Leader will serve Metro Denver residents through hands‑on projects, including installing efficiency upgrades in homes using MHYC vehicles and materials.

Daily tasks for the Crew Leader can include: organizing fleet operations, facilitating reflection and service‑learning activities, assisting with service data collection, and collaborating with program staff to contribute to positive outcomes for all STP Corps members. Crew Leaders will participate in classroom, online, and hands‑on training connected to career pathways in sustainable trades. This is an Ameri Corps funded position.
