Frontier Behavioral Health has been serving the Spokane community for more than 100 years, offering evidence‑based behavioral health services to adults, youth, and seniors. We provide a range of client programs, including outpatient, inpatient, community outreach, crisis services, and partnerships with schools and law enforcement.

Position Overview

Shift‑required, on‑site Crisis Triage Specialists conduct telephone triage and assessment for individuals in behavioral health crisis. They collaborate with clients, families, and community partners, provide crisis intervention, and dispatch the Mobile Rapid Response Crisis Team (MRRCT) or a Designated Crisis Responder as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Provide telephone triage services to callers and referral sources.
  • Complete risk assessments to determine risk for suicide, homicide, or other safety concerns.
  • Make referrals to law enforcement, DCR, or active rescue when immediate response is required.
  • Manage multiple calls professionally and with empathy.
  • Develop initial stabilization and safety plans in collaboration with callers until MRRCT is dispatched.
  • Complete comprehensive documentation supporting safety plans.
  • Maintain accurate client records and comply with agency policies.
  • Participate in quality improvement teams, task groups, committees, and training initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or agency.
Qualifications
  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in behavioral health or related field.
  • Required: Counselor Agency Affiliated credential within 30 days of hire.
  • Preferred: Two years of experience serving individuals with behavioral health needs.
  • Preferred: Experience with crisis intervention and risk assessments.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong engagement and customer‑service skills with empathy.
  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and clear‑headed during escalated situations.
  • Working knowledge of mental health and substance use disorders.
  • Skill in obtaining and retaining information to minimize caller repetition.
  • Familiarity with WAC, RCW, and best practices for MRRCT and Designated Crisis Responders.
  • Effective communication with individuals of varied cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Critical thinking, decision‑making, and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of community resources to assist callers.
  • Ability to work autonomously.
Physical, Sensory & Environmental
  • Work primarily in an office setting, sitting and using computers 4–8 hours per day.
  • Ability to lift 10–20 pounds.
  • Travel may be required outside the office.
  • No predictable exposure to blood‑borne pathogens (Category III).
Pay Range & Hours

Hourly pay: $25.89–$31.53, based on longevity. Shift differentials may apply. Per‑required‑need positions are not eligible for sign‑on bonus or benefits.
