About the RoleCommunity Navigators are often a community member's first point of contact y build trusting relationships, connect individuals and families to the resources they need, and walk alongside them as they navigate services. Navigators carry a caseload of families, provide referrals and application assistance, and serve as cultural brokers between the community and VEC's network of partners.
As VEC's front door, Navigators also play a key role in our workforce program: they help identify community members who are ready for employment support and connect them into VEC's Work / Learn / Volunteer pathway.
Schedule:
Full-time, in-person, Monday–Friday, onsite 5 days per week. Occasional evenings or weekends may be required for community events.
Navigation & Case Management
- Work individually with a caseload of families to understand and support their needs.
- Provide resources and referrals to community members, and follow up to ensure support services are received.
- Provide application assistance for SNAP, Medicaid, and other benefits.
- Serve as a cultural broker and interpreter, and act as a liaison between community members and partner providers.
- Assist with incoming phone calls and coverage of the reception area.
Workforce Connection
- Identify community members who are ready for employment support and connect them into VEC's workforce pathway.
- Support resume, mock-interview, and job-readiness workshops.
- Provide basic employment navigation and share employment resources and opportunities.
Documentation
- Use Apricot (case management software) to complete assessments and track follow-up appointments.
- Submit monthly reports in a timely manner.
You have a strong desire to serve refugee and immigrant communities and are familiar with their needs and the services available to them. You collaborate well with a multidisciplinary team and outside partners, communicate clearly in both Spanish and English, and stay flexible and patient in the face of change. You're reliable, work well independently, and are glad to share your cultural knowledge with the team.
Required Qualifications- Fluency in Spanish and English (spoken and written).
- One year of direct service, navigation, or case management experience in human services or a related field.
- Firsthand cultural knowledge of, or familiarity with, refugee and immigrant communities in Colorado.
- Experience providing benefits application assistance (e.g., SNAP, Medicaid) and community outreach.
- Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Basic computer competency, including Microsoft Office / Outlook and Google applications.
- Ability to build trusting relationships and advocate for community members.
- Bachelor's degree (foreign or domestic) in a human services field, or a degree in another field with one year of relevant experience.
- Experience with job-readiness or workforce-development programming.
- Proficiency in additional languages spoken by VEC's communities. Familiarity with Apricot or a similar case management system.
Salary: $50,000–$58,000, depending on experience.
