Software Engineering Intern, Elixir

RESPONSIBILITIES

* Support the development of satellite command and control, mission planning, and data processing software systems using Elixir

* Contribute to team discussions on architecture, design, and code reviews

* Collaborate with engineers across disciplines to build effective systems

* Take on well-scoped tasks and features with guidance from senior engineers

QUALIFICATIONS

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, completed or graduating within the next 4 months

* Exposure to functional programming concepts through coursework, personal projects, or prior experience

* Introductory experience with Elixir, Erlang, or similar functional languages (e.g., Haskell, Clojure, F#)

* Interest in resilient, fault-tolerant system design

* Strong written and oral communication skills and aptitude for working across disciplines

* Enjoys debugging and problem solving

* Interest in distributed systems

* A strong bias towards understanding how things work rather than accepting the status quo

* U.S. Citizen and eligible for DoD Secret or TS/SCI clearance

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

* Familiarity with Elixir and OTP concepts including Gen Servers, supervision trees, or the Actor model

* Exposure to databases such as Postgre

SQL or MySQL

* Interest in distributed systems, real-time or game engine backends

* Familiarity with authentication concepts such as OAuth2 or role-based access controls

COMPENSATION

* Base Salary: $28/hour
