Amazon is expanding Amazon Web Services (AWS) connectivity and is looking for help. AWS seeks a Senior Software Development Engineer with technical leadership experience developing embedded software on custom hardware including the most advanced FPGA System‑on‑Chip (SoCs). The role involves architecting, developing, and integrating scalable high‑assurance embedded systems into the AWS technology ecosystem. We develop AWS‑owned hardware solutions to scale globally, minimize cost, and maximize value for our customers.

The team includes hardware, software and FPGA engineers with a dedicated product development lab.

  • Develop low‑level drivers for ARM and RISC‑V targets, Linux drivers and kernel modules, business logic, and scalable software solutions to interoperate with AWS services.
  • Decompose complex cryptographic and security requirements from government standards into actionable software and hardware design specifications.
  • Analyze and translate keying requirements including key generation, establishment, distribution, storage, and zeroization into embedded software implementations that meet government certification standards.
  • Lead design and system engineers to perform tradeoffs and architect new solutions for customers.
  • Help identify new opportunities and new technologies to improve the customer experience and add features.
  • Mentor and develop peer and junior engineers.

You will lead architectural discussions and strategic planning meetings.

You will use and develop CI/CD pipelines, deploy embedded software onto hardware targets, and debug issues in RTL, hardware, or software. You will develop and document software subsystems and components in Rust, coordinate with the team daily, and review code.
