Senior Appian Software Engineer

Overview

The Senior Software Engineer utilizes web and cloud technologies, APIs, and third-party software development frameworks to build and support application solutions. Provides support for design and development to an application development team, and advises a team of local or outsourced software engineers to build and support business application solutions.

• Work collaboratively with other development staff, including contract and offshore Software Engineers, and business product owners in an agile environment.
• Code, test, identify, implement, and document solutions to business challenges utilizing web and cloud technologies.
• Perform design and analysis for deliverables. Lead larger team design sessions for system level architecture solutions.
• Serve as a subject matter expert for a wide range of areas, applications, and technologies and mentor other team members in design/coding standards.
• Recommend solutions considering costs, business needs, and system impacts.
• Support analysis and general architectural design across platforms toward end-to-end solutions.
• Utilize third-party software development frameworks, open-source libraries, and APIs to develop basic application solutions.
• Learn and keep pace with the latest advances in the field and rapidly grasp new technologies to support the environment and contribute to project deliverables.
• Assist with preparing presentations and may lead development meetings.

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, math, engineering, or related technical field, or equivalent education/experience.
• Three years of Core Java or .NET experience.
• Strong knowledge of coding platforms/frameworks (e.g., .NET/C#, Java, OOD, OOP, Spring Framework, J2EE, Service Oriented Architecture, Dependency Injection).
• Two years of experience in database design techniques (RDBMS, Document, Star Schema, Kimball Model).

  SQL database technologies (e.g., MS Cosmos DB, Apache Cassandra, Amazon Dynamo
  
  DB).
• Understanding of cloud services (AWS/Azure) and supporting tools (EC2, S3, Data Factory, etc.).
• Experience with build and deployment tools (Visual Studio, Git/Bitbucket, Maven, Jenkins, Nexus, SQL Management Studio).
• Knowledge of distributed computing concepts and microservices with REST-based API development.
• Experience with CI/CD and containerization (Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, Open Shift).
• Familiarity with modern frontend development frameworks (Angular, React, Vue.js, ASP.NET MVC) and related web technologies.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical communication skills; ability to work in a team and independently.

• Appian Developer certifications.
• Understanding of analytics, machine learning, big data, and real-time streaming architectures.
• Knowledge of data warehousing concepts, ETL, and related architectures.
• Technology or platform certifications (e.g., AWS, Microsoft).
• Knowledge of the financial services industry.

• Hybrid-Office Environment (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays).
• Work outside of normal business hours may be required.
• Occasional Travel.
