DescriptionKharon is seeking a full‑time Data Engineer based in Denver, Colorado who will work in office 3 days a week.
Responsibilities- Help build large‑scale distributed automated data processing systems and data lakes, while optimizing for both computational and storage efficiency on AWS Databricks.
- Create data pipelines, infrastructure, and overall workflow orchestration to pull data from a diverse set of data sources into the Kharon Data Lake.
- Build systems to track, monitor and validate the quality of data entering or exiting the data lake.
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, and data scientists to implement scalable solutions for complex problems.
- Interact and develop with internal and external APIs.
- Work with product and business teams to define novel and critical metrics for the business.
- Follow good engineering practices such as documentation, diagrams, and unit/validation tests.
- Take full responsibility for the development, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of the data systems and services you build.
- 3+ years of experience as a software engineer or data engineer, not including internships.
- BS or MS in Computer Science or related field.
- Experience with Python, Pandas, PySpark, and interactive notebooks.
- Knowledge of SQL and relational databases, including schema design, access patterns, and query performance optimization.
- Experience with pipeline technologies such as AWS Glue, Airflow, Kafka, or similar cloud‑based solutions.
- Experience with ETL and data warehousing platforms like Databricks, Snowflake, or equivalent.
- Experience with container‑based deployment using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with graph databases such as Neo4j, Neptune, or similar.
- API experience with FastAPI, Flask, Spring Boot, or equivalent.
- Understanding of Elasticsearch data and query modeling.
- Interest or experience in geopolitics, sanctions compliance, or financial risk.

The base salary range for this position is $120,000 to $160,000 per year. Total compensation may include bonuses, commissions, benefits, or equity.
