Senior Backend Identity & Security Engineer

• Own identity end-to-end, design and build systems managing user authentication

• Lead design of role-based and attribute-based access control (RBAC/ABAC) systems

• Design and operate backend systems powering push, email, and in-app notification delivery

• Write RFCs, lead technical design reviews, set technical direction

• Break down problems, ship with velocity, integrate AI tooling into workflow

• Mentor peers, share knowledge, elevate design and code reviews

• Collaborate with Product, Security, and feature-domain engineering teams

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience with meaningful ownership of production systems at scale
• Deep expertise in identity systems — authentication protocols (OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML)
• Experience designing multi-tenant identity models
• Hands-on experience building or operating notification infrastructure
• Strong command of at least one backend language (Ruby, Go, Python, or similar)
• Track record of leading technical design
• Active AI fluency using tools like Git Hub Copilot, Cursor, or LLM-based assistants
• Security-minded by default
• Clear, direct communicator
