Senior Solution Architect - Hybrid, Full-Stack Leadership

Sr. Application Architects (Western Union, LLC. Denver, CO)

Support highly functional, secure, scalable, and robust software solutions from the product ideation stage to production deployment through collaboration with product owners, architects, test engineers, Dev Ops, and operations. Perform full-stack development including contribution to the design of backend databases and queries, API creation and consumption, and contribute to front-end user interface development. Take ownership and responsibility for one or more applications in a solution.

Provide application architecture and design artifacts and conduct design reviews. Present solutions to technical and non-technical stakeholders. Take a hands‑on role in influencing development activities, architecture decisions, participate in designs, design review, code review, and implementation. Analyze existing software for usability and accessibility issues and provide recommendations for improvement. Participate in test driven development. Ensure that all product adheres to architecture standards, risk management standards, and security policies and can take on the DEV lead for the scrum team.

Ensure adherence to established standards and may consult with senior managers on technology solutions. Support existing business systems applications and may be responsible for leading technical aspects of a project. Assign resources and delegate tasks to meet project deliverables. Up to 5% of domestic and international travel for partner integrations and offsite meetings. Telecommuting may be permitted for up to 1 day per week.

When not telecommuting, must report to Western Union, LLC at 7001 E Belleview Ave, Denver, CO 80237. Salary: $171,454 to $230,261 per year.

• 8 years of progressive experience delivering enterprise level software solutions, and an array of technical leadership responsibilities across multiple high scale cross functional teams and solutions.
• Bachelor’s degree or U.S. equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field, plus 6 years of professional experience as a Solution Architect, Software Engineer or any occupation, job title, position designing, developing, and supporting secure, scalable, and robust full‑stack software applications from ideation through production deployment.
• Must also have experience in the following: 6 years of professional experience developing full‑stack applications, including backend database design and queries, API creation and consumption (including SOAP and REST), and front‑end UI development using frameworks including Angular;
• 6 years of professional experience utilizing SQL Developer, IntelliJ, VS Code, and Swagger for API definition as well as utilizing Figma to collaborate with UI/UX team;
• 6 years of professional experience utilizing modern integration and application architecture patterns, including hybrid cloud environments, APIs, and event‑driven systems, to design and implement scalable software solutions;
• 6 years of professional experience designing and implementing backend services using technologies (including Java, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Hibernate, Spring Batch, and Kafka) with strong understanding of data structures and design patterns;
• 6 years of professional experience performing solution and application architecture, including creating architecture and design artifacts, conducting design reviews, and ensuring alignment with enterprise standards, security policies, and risk management requirements;
• 5 years of professional experience practicing test‑driven development (TDD) and participating in code reviews to ensure code quality, maintainability, usability, and accessibility compliance;
• 5 years of professional experience collaborating in Agile/Scrum environments, as well as managing work using tools including JIRA, participating in sprint planning, and presenting technical solutions to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders;
