The Collection Strategies Specialist manages collection maintenance projects with a focus on improving the stacks for accessibility, supervises student employees, and assists with interlibrary loan services. This position will be responsible for training student employees, repairing books, assisting with book displays, shelving, inventorying, shifting and shelf-reading, and processing interlibrary loan requests. This service-oriented staff member will be an integral member of the Collection Development and Strategies Department which leads efforts for the strategic selection, acquisition, development, management, and assessment of high quality, diverse, inclusive and equitable Learning Material collections in all formats and across all disciplines to support the learning, research, teaching, and administration needs of students, staff & faculty of the Auraria campus.

• Under the direction of the Serials & Stacks Manager, this position leads departmental efforts to improve collection maintenance for both monographs and serials.
• Proactively evaluates, identifies, suggests, and implements collection maintenance projects and priorities, with the goal of improving accessibility for patrons.
• Establishes best standards for growth in the stacks while considering short and long-term collection planning and goals.
• Actively participates in shelf-reading, shelving, and inventory.
• Oversees weeding projects, including physically removing items from the collection and updating the records.
• Manages a tool that updates collection signage, as needed.
• Supports all library projects that involve the stacks, such as the Classification Contextualization initiative, which highlights key areas of bias in the Library of Congress classification.
• Ensures timely check-in of all print periodicals and standing orders.
• Maintains the print periodicals and conducts print periodical usage studies to assist in renewal decisions.
• Sends and receives items from the bindery, twice yearly, updating records to ensure that bound periodicals are accessible to our users.
• Serves as the in-house expert for repairing the library's general collection, evaluating and repairing titles in-house or sending to the bindery.
• Collaborates with Collection Development Librarians to determine which damaged materials should be withdrawn, repaired, or replaced.
• Responsible for selecting and maintaining repair supplies.
• Creates a monthly book display- selecting a theme, titles, creating signage, and updating records.
• Manages Faculty Authors' Display- labeling books written by faculty, updating records, and ensuring that newly purchased faculty author books are put on display.
