Truck Driver - Hiker​/Vehicle Transporter​/CDL - Part Time

Position Summary

Penske Truck Leasing seeks highly motivated and qualified applicants to fill the unique position of Hiker (Vehicle Transporter/Truck Driver). This position is responsible for vehicle delivery and returning vehicles to Penske locations and Penske customers. Primarily, this position moves our box trucks up to 26’ and for CDL Class A will include tractors and trailer movement. Position may also provide assistance to the service department to deliver parts and equipment.

This is a casual/on-call part-time truck driving job that is perfect for licensed CDL Class B or CDL Class A drivers seeking supplemental income and looking to work anywhere from 0 to 25 hours a week based on business needs.

Location 1: 10255 E 40th Ave, Denver, CO

Schedule: Weekdays (2‑3 days flexible) 11 AM‑6 PM;
Saturday 7:00 AM‑3:30 PM

Location 2: 70 Kalamath St, Denver, CO 80223

Schedule: Wednesday‑Friday, 7:00 AM‑4:00 PM

• Follow appropriate safety procedures while driving trucks to destination of Penske location or customer locations.
• Check vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order, report to location manager if any issues are found.
• Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment for services when required.
• Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles.
• Complete other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor.

• At least 2 years of driving experience.
• At least 2 years of a clean DMV motor vehicle record.
• Valid Class B CDL required. Applicants must be domiciled in the U.S. and licensed in their state of residence.
• CDL Class A license preferred.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions.
• Ability to work independently, customer‑service skills, organizational skills, and a positive attitude.
• English language proficiency (required by federal law 49 C.F.R. 391.11(b)(2)).
• Regular, predictable, full attendance essential.
• Compliance with DOT regulations: maintain current driver qualification file, annual MVR check, DOT physical, safety performance history, DOT drug screening within 30 days of start, FMCSA Clearinghouse review.
• Willingness to travel as necessary, work required schedule, complete Penske employment application, background investigation, and drug screening.
• Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner, taking responsibility for own safety and others.

Must be able to see and hear; requires close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Must be able to move frequently, stand, walk, sit, use hands to touch, handle, feel, and reach with hands and arms.

Must be able to regularly lift and move up to 50 lbs (23 kg) and occasionally lift and move up to 100 lbs (45 kg).

Must be able to legally operate a motor vehicle and safely and frequently enter/exit the vehicle and rear cargo area.
