Street Maintenance, a division within the City and County of Denver’s Department of Transportation and Infrastructure, is responsible for keeping Denver’s streets and alleys safe, clean, and reliable year-round. The division oversees a wide range of essential services, including pothole repair, milling, paving, patching, alley maintenance, and citywide street sweeping. It also operates Denver’s asphalt plant, which produces the materials necessary to resurface and maintain the city’s transportation infrastructure.
In addition, Street Maintenance leads Denver’s citywide snow response program, ensuring timely and efficient snow removal to keep roadways accessible during winter weather.
To support these critical operations, the Street Maintenance team is currently hiring for an Equipment Operator I's to join the team.
This role offers the opportunity to contribute directly to the maintenance and improvement of Denver’s streets, alleys, and transportation network while serving the community through all seasons.
As a Equipment Operator I you will:
Be part of a Paving, Milling, or Asphalt team Perform semi-skilled and light to heavy physical labor on a variety of construction, maintenance, and repair projects.
Operate weed whackers, snow blowers, pull weeds, rake and shovel asphalt, and run the wing on a paver.
Operate light to medium sized equipment for maintenance and minor construction projects
Place and remove barricades, cones, and other traffic control and safety devices in and around work areas for construction and maintenance projects in accordance with traffic regulation requirement
Perform other related duties as assigned including snow removal duties
What You’ll Bring Our ideal candidate has some or all the following experience, skills, and characteristics:
Desire to preform light to heavy physical labor on a variety of projects related to street maintenance
Previous experience with street maintenance, and other labor or construction-related tasks
Desire to work ouside in various weather conditions (snow, rain, heat, ect) and environments (dust, fumes, etc.)Knowledge of city of Denver streets/alleys and use of maps Desire to promote to other positions within the department
