Highway Maintenance Technician (Local CDL)
Position summary:
This full‑time role in Denver, CO on the Central 70 project requires performing highway maintenance tasks including debris removal, street sweeping, sign and guardrail repair, concrete repair, mowing, vegetation control, roadway snow removal, and adherence to all applicable federal, state, local regulations and company policies.
Geographic area: CDOT Local Hiring Goal includes zip codes 80010, 80011, 80019, 80022, 80205, 80207, 80211, 80216, 80221, 80238, 80239, 80249, 80266.
Hourly rate: $22–$27 per hour depending on experience, certifications, licenses (e.g., CDL A or
B).
Schedule:
Mon‑Fri 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM (day). Mon‑Thu 6:00 PM – 4:30 AM (night). Must work nights, weekends, and during snow/ice events.
- Minimum 2 years related experience
- Roadway maintenance experience
- Concrete forming/repair experience
- Operator of wheel loader, skid‑steer, forklift, asphalt roller, etc.
- Driver’s license required
- CDL A or B preferred
- MOT certifications (traffic control)
- Concrete forming experience
Clean driving record essential. Must pass criminal background check.
Qualifications:- High School Diploma or GED
- Maintain company standards for background checks (criminal record, driving record, controlled substance/drug testing)
- Knowledge of local driving rules and regulations
- Simple arithmetic functions
- Maintain proper safety equipment per job
- Knowledge and ability to adapt to latest technology
- Ability to use smartphone and applications
- Ability to adjust to changing work schedule
- Work safely under varying environmental and weather conditions
- Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds repeatedly while twisting; other strenuous manual labor may be required
- Ability to operate hand/power tools
