Title: CDL & Non CDL Driver
Department: Fleet
Reports To: Service Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Summary:The CDL & Non CDL Drivers will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe transportation of goods from one location to another. This includes, but is not limited to safe delivery, timely service, cargo management, vehicle maintenance, and customer interaction.
Essential Duties:- Perform pre- and post-trip inspections, record faults in ELD software, and provide written documentation of faults to management.
- Perform basic vehicle and equipment maintenance and repairs.
- Able to operate and safely drive delivery vehicles per federal, state, and company regulations.
- Monitor weather conditions and road reports before all departures to minimize delays by planning and adjusting routes to account for changing weather and traffic conditions.
- Comply with FMSCA and DOT regulations and obey all applicable traffic laws.
- Maintain detailed driving logs using ELD software, and paper logs when required.
- Confirm the contents of the loaded freight matches the manifest prior to departure.
- Ensure freight is properly secured to prevent breakage or damage.
- Safely and efficiently unload freight at assigned destinations.
- Obtain proof of delivery signatures upon completion of each delivery.
- Enhance customer relations by consistently delivering freight according to schedule and quickly addressing customer concerns.
- Immediately notify management of any delivery issue.
- Always make safety a priority.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
- Work toward continuous quality improvement.
- Uphold, support, and promote all company policies and procedures.
The CDL and Non CDL Driver Position has no supervisory responsibility.
Qualifications:To perform this job successfully, the individual in this position must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the minimum knowledge, skills and ability required.
Education/Experience:
- One to two years related driving experience and/or training.
- CDL Driver: tractor-trailer driving experience preferred.
- Must have a clean driving record of moving violations and DUI/DWI convictions.
- Pallet jack and forklift experience preferred.
Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Skills:
- Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with tens and hundreds.
- Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Skills:
- Ability to type and use a mouse. Basic operations in email and internet navigation.
- Ability to use or navigate the Internet and email, computers, word processing, manipulate data in databases, graphics and multimedia, and spreadsheets.
- DOT Medical Examiner's Certification (medical card) required.
- Valid driving license required.
- CDL Drivers: valid Class A Commercial driving license.
- Non CDL Drivers: valid driving license.
