Penske Truck Leasing seeks highly motivated and qualified applicants to fill the unique position of Hiker (Vehicle Transporter/Truck Driver). This position is responsible for vehicle delivery and returning vehicles to Penske locations and Penske customers. The role primarily moves box trucks up to 26' and, for CDL Class A, includes tractors and trailer movement. It may also provide assistance to the service department to deliver parts and equipment.

This is a casual/on-call part-time truck driving job that is perfect for licensed CDL Class B or CDL Class A drivers seeking supplemental income and looking to work anywhere from 0 to 25 hours a week based on business needs.

Schedule:

Wednesday – Friday 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM.

• Follow appropriate safety procedures while driving trucks to Penske or customer locations.
• Check vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order, reporting to location manager if any issues are found.
• Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment for services when required.
• Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles.
• Other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor.

• Second shift and weekend differential of $3.00/hour after 11 AM; third shift differential of $4.00/hour after 9 PM.
• Safe fleet of vehicles for Hiker staff to ensure vehicles are where customers need them.

• 2 years of driving experience.
• 2 years of a clean DMV motor vehicle record.
• Valid Class B CDL required (Class A preferred).
• Applicants must be domiciled in the U.S. and licensed in their state of residence.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions.
• Ability to work independently, customer‑service skills, organizational skills, and a positive attitude.
• English language proficiency (required for compliance with 49 C.F.R. 391.11(b)(2)).
• Regular, predictable, full attendance is essential.
• Compliance with DOT regulations, including maintaining a current driver qualification file, annual MVR check, DOT Physical and Safety Performance History records, and a DOT drug screening within 30 days of start. Eligible drivers will also undergo FMCSA Clearinghouse review.
• Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, work at the specific location, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (including past employment, education, criminal history), and drug screening.

• Must be able to see and hear (close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, focus adjustment).
• Must move frequently, stand, walk, sit, and use hands and arms to touch, handle, feel, and reach.
• Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs (23 kg), and occasionally lift up to 100 lbs (45 kg).
• Must be able to legally operate a motor vehicle and safely enter/exit the vehicle and rear cargo area.

Payroll:
Class A $20.25/hour;
Class B $19.50/hour;
Class C $19.29/hour
