About this roleThe Driver plays a key role in supporting ESS Metron's production and delivery operations by safely transporting equipment, materials, and products to and from industrial and manufacturing sites. Operating 20 to 26-foot box trucks, the Driver ensures that all loads are properly secured and delivered on time while maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism. This is a full-time, on-site position with a standard schedule of Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:45 PM, with some weekend availability required;
overtime pay is provided for weekend or for earlier and later hours.
- Perform all duties in a safe manner and promote a Safety First mentality across the team.
- Safely operate company vehicles to transport equipment, materials, and products to and from industrial and manufacturing locations.
- Ensure proper load securement on flatbed trailers in accordance with DOT regulations and company standards prior to every trip.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report any mechanical issues or safety concerns to management.
- Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment to assist with loading and unloading of freight.
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation including manifests, bills of lading, and delivery confirmations.
- Communicate proactively with operations and logistics teams regarding delivery status, delays, or issues.
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local traffic laws and company driving policies at all times.
- Maintain a clean driving record and report any traffic violations or incidents to management immediately.
- Other duties may be assigned as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3+ years of driving experience, including operation of 20 to 26-foot box trucks required.
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred but not required.
- Forklift certification or demonstrated forklift experience required.
- Proven load securement experience in compliance with DOT regulations.
- Industrial or manufacturing delivery experience strongly preferred.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on safety and accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and follow both written and verbal instructions.
- Operates in an active manufacturing facility and various delivery sites.
- Regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions during loading, unloading, and deliveries.
- Occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock and moving mechanical parts.
- Moderate-to-high noise level work environment.
- Must be able to regularly lift and move equipment up to 50 lbs.
- PPE & Compliance: Strictly adhere to all site safety protocols and wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times (e.g., safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toed boots).
- Hazard Awareness: Proactively identify, report, and mitigate potential workplace hazards or unsafe conditions.
- Standards: Maintain compliance with OSHA regulations, DOT requirements, and internal safety training.
- Organization: Keep all work areas and vehicle interiors clean and free of obstructions to prevent workplace accidents.
