Electrical Engineering, Automation & Mechatronics Engineer, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
The Electrical Engineer is responsible for designing, troubleshooting, and optimizing electrical systems for production equipment. This role supports equipment installation, automation improvements, preventive maintenance, and ensures all electrical work complies with safety and industry standards. The engineer works closely with Production, Maintenance, QA, and Equipment suppliers to ensure reliable and stable operation of manufacturing lines.
Key Responsibilities Equipment & Electrical System SupportTroubleshoot electrical issues on production equipment, including motors, control panels, sensors, PLCs, inverters, and power systems.
Support the installation, testing, commissioning, and modification of production lines.
Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring electrical failures.
System Design & ImprovementDesign or update electrical diagrams, wiring layouts, and control system configurations.
Recommend and implement improvements to enhance equipment reliability, efficiency, and safety.
Work with automation engineers and vendors to upgrade control systems.
PLC, Controls & AutomationProgram, modify, and troubleshoot PLCs (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Omron, etc.) as needed.
Support HMI updates, communication networks, and automation integration projects.
Assist with process optimization through automation improvements.
Preventive & Predictive MaintenanceDevelop and maintain electrical preventive maintenance (PM) plans.
Perform inspections and testing of electrical systems (motors, drives, MCCs, transformers).
Ensure critical spare parts availability and update the PM records.
Safety & ComplianceEnsure all electrical work meets NEC, OSHA, NFPA
70E, and company safety requirements.
Conduct electrical safety training for maintenance teams when needed.
Maintain proper documentation for lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.
Documentation & ReportingMaintain accurate electrical drawings (AutoCAD/EPLAN).
Prepare technical reports, failure analysis, and improvement proposals.
Document modifications, changes, and system upgrades.
Cross-Functional CollaborationWork closely with Production, Maintenance, Quality, and external equipment suppliers.
Support new product introductions (NPI) and new equipment purchasing decisions.
Assist maintenance technicians with advanced electrical troubleshooting.
Qualifications EducationBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
Equivalent technical experience may be considered.
Experience3–5 years of electrical engineering experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Experience with automated machinery, PLCs, sensors, drives, and industrial control systems.
Experience in battery, chemical, semiconductor, or high-volume manufacturing is a plus.
SkillsBilingual fluency in English and Mandarin Chinese is required.
Strong understanding of electrical circuits, PLC programming, motor control, and industrial automation.
Ability to read and update electrical drawings (AutoCAD/EPLAN).
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
Knowledge of safety standards (NEC, OSHA, NFPA).
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Manufacturing plant environment with exposure to machinery, electrical equipment, and industrial settings.
May require evening or weekend support during equipment emergencies.
Physical RequirementsAbility to stand, walk, and conduct on-floor troubleshooting.
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs occasionally.
