What is a Salesperson? This entry‑level sales position supports the DIY business and helps the store achieve its sales and service objectives. The role requires knowledge of store systems, basic automotive and part knowledge, and the ability to source parts from stores, hubs, supply vendors, and external suppliers. In‑depth knowledge of inventory and maintenance processes is required. The position can be part‑time or full‑time.
Fleet safety certification is preferred.
- Provide an excellent selling experience for DIY customer visits and phone calls.
- Achieve personal sales goals and help the store meet its sales targets.
- Deliver DIY services including battery installation, testing, wiper installs, and more.
- Maintain store product and operational standards.
- Responsible for inventory processes including truck put‑away, shoot‑outs, cycle counts, and back‑stock management.
- Maintain store cleanliness (floors, bathrooms, facing, dusting, parking lot).
- General stocking including truck stocking and back‑stock.
- Safely deliver parts to customers as needed.
- Basic driving and navigation ability.
- Ability to use delivery board system.
- Friendly communication.
- Ability to locate and stock parts.
- Safety knowledge and skills.
- Operating inventory systems and store equipment.
- Parts and automotive system knowledge.
- Operating POS and parts lookup systems.
- Expertise in testing and diagnostic equipment for DIY service.
Job Skills for a Salesperson
- Speak and write English (Spanish a plus); communicate effectively and build strong relationships with customers, peers and management.
- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, parts catalogs, and procedure manuals.
- Use basic math accurately (add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals).
- Work an assortment of days, evenings, and weekends as needed.
- 2–3 years of successful sales experience in a diverse retail environment, providing superior customer experiences.

- Pick up returns and cores.
- Drop off weekly/monthly sales flyers.
- Collect daily credit accounts.
- Maintain store cleanliness (floors, bathrooms, facing, dusting, parking lot).
- General stocking including truck stocking and back‑stock.
- Basic driving and navigation ability.
- Ability to use delivery board system.
- Friendly communication.
- Ability to locate and stock parts.
- Safety knowledge and skills.
- Operating inventory systems (back‑stock) and store equipment.
Job Skills for a Driver

- Certificates, licenses, registrations.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be fleet safety certified.
Walking or standing, using hands and fingers to handle or feel; reaching with hands and arms; climbing or balancing; stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Frequently lifts or moves up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds. Requires close, distance, color, and depth vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Work EnvironmentUsually inside but occasionally outside with exposure to weather while performing tasks such as installing batteries and wiper blades. Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, high or precarious places, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, explosives, and vibration. The noise level is usually moderate.
