We are a high-growth, mission-driven facilities maintenance and signage company seeking a Sales Engineer to join our fast-paced, collaborative team. Position Overview
The Sales Engineer will play a key role in driving signage sales by preparing accurate estimates and bids, providing technical expertise, and managing the sales process for signage projects. This role involves some prospecting for new business, engineering solutions, pricing projects competitively, and ensuring successful handoff to production and installation teams.
This position requires strong collaboration with operations, project management, and customers to deliver tailored solutions. Occasional travel may be required for site visits and client meetings.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate and timely bids, quotes, and proposals for signage projects
- Review architectural drawings, specifications, and site conditions to develop detailed cost estimates
- Partner with operations and vendors to ensure pricing aligns with production and installation requirements
- Track bid status and follow up with clients to close opportunities
- Provide technical expertise, guidance on materials, installation methods, and design feasibility during sales conversations.
- Collaborate with operations and vendors to scope projects and deliver value-driven solutions to clients.
- Build strong, lasting relationships with customers by serving as a trusted advisor.
- Assist in qualifying leads and supporting sales conversations with technical insight.
Business Growth
- Identify new customer opportunities within assigned territories or market segments.
- Participate in targeted prospecting efforts to grow the signage division’s customer base.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, materials, and best practices to enhance proposals and client solutions
What you MUST have (Qualifications):
- Significant expertise in signage, facilities management, or a related technical field
- Proven experience in estimating, bidding, or technical sales within the signage or construction industries
- Strong project management and problem-solving skills
- Ability to read and interpret architectural plans, drawings, and technical documents
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
- CRM proficiency (Salesforce or similar) and strong Microsoft Office skills
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Self-motivated, team-oriented, and focused on delivering exceptional customer experiences
Preferred Skills
- Background in sign fabrication, installation, or related engineering disciplines
- Understanding of permitting processes and local signage codes
- Experience coordinating with subcontractors and suppliers
