The Denville Public Library is seeking a highly organized and flexible individual to fill in as needed at our busy circulation desk. This on-call position provides coverage for scheduled staff absences and is ideal for someone who enjoys working with the public in a welcoming, community-oriented environment. Circulation staff members are the face of the library. This person will be the first point of contact with our library patrons, and as such the ideal candidate will have excellent customer service skills, be detail-oriented, and have the ability to make quick decisions to resolve conflicts.
The ideal candidate must be confident in these abilities and possess unflappable composure.
Responsibilities include charging and discharging materials, issuing library cards, placing holds, shelving library materials and assisting patrons in locating materials. Additional duties will be assigned as needed.
Requirements:
Minimum of a High School diploma, experience in a customer service environment, and a demonstrated attention to detail. Strong communication and interpersonal skills and basic computer proficiency and ability to learn library software are required. Prior knowledge of the Koha library system is desirable.
Schedule:
- On-call, substitute position.
- Must be available to work days, evenings, and occasional Saturdays as needed.
- Hours are not guaranteed and will vary based on staffing needs.
Starting salary is $17.55. This position is entitled to earned sick leave per N.J.S.A. 34:11D-1.
