Morris County School Of Technology School Counseling/Guidance Office Secretary
Full-Time 12-Month Position Available:
September 2026
We are looking for a proactive, independent self-starter. Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage a busy desk with minimal supervision.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma and/or secretarial experience (guidance/school counseling or school experience preferred).
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency with all Microsoft Office programs and the ability to operate office machinery including fax/copy/scanner machine.
- Good record keeping skills and ability to maintain well-organized files.
- Knowledge of student information computer systems preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and proven ability to communicate with parents, students, teachers, staff and the public.

Job Goal:
To assure the smooth and efficient operation of the MCST School Counseling/Guidance Office
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Maintain all related records on all students including student transcripts, and student information system records in a timely manner.
- Receive, process, forward and respond to calls, emails, and correspondence as is appropriate.
- Perform office routines including preparation of reports, correspondence, notices and agendas under the direction of the immediate supervisor.
- Maintain records as directed by immediate supervisor.
- Word process efficiently and utilize programs in Microsoft Office and operate other office machines as required.
- Participate in the budgeting process by identifying needs and utilizing supplies and materials effectively and efficiently.
- Share duties and support other secretaries in the Guidance Department.
- Support other office personnel as needed for an efficient office operation.
- Assume responsibility and respond proactively to situations as they arise.
- Establish and maintain good public relations.
- Independently complete specific tasks related to individual location/assignment.
- Perform any other job-related responsibilities as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Compensation:
In compliance with New Jersey's Pay Transparency Law, the salary range for this position is $50,875 to $64,165. This position is also eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, prescription and vision insurance, a retirement plan and sick, personal, bereavement and family illness days.
