Experienced Restoration Technician Ready for the Next Step?

Restoration 1 New Jersey is looking for an experienced Lead Mitigation Technician / Crew Chief to join our team at our Denville, New Jersey location
.

This is a hands-on field position for someone who already knows the restoration business and is comfortable taking responsibility for their truck, equipment, and assigned mitigation projects.

As a Crew Chief, you will typically be the lead technician assigned to the company van
. Depending on the size of the project, you may work independently or side-by-side with another technician or helper.

We're looking for someone who can arrive at a water loss, understand the scope of work, set up the project correctly, perform the mitigation work, document the job, communicate with the Project Manager, and make sure the customer receives professional service.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Driving a company mitigation vehicle to assigned projects
  • Performing water extraction and emergency mitigation services
  • Performing controlled demolition and removal of damaged materials
  • Setting up containment and jobsite protection
  • Installing air movers, dehumidifiers, HEPA air scrubbers, and other drying equipment
  • Taking moisture readings and monitoring drying progress
  • Determining proper equipment placement based on job conditions
  • Returning to jobsites for monitoring and equipment adjustments
  • Removing equipment once drying goals are achieved
  • Cleaning and organizing jobsites
  • Taking photos and documenting work performed
  • Completing required job documentation
  • Communicating job progress and jobsite conditions to the Project Manager
  • Communicating professionally with homeowners and commercial customers
  • Keeping your assigned van clean, stocked, and organized
  • Maintaining and caring for company tools and restoration equipment
  • Loading and unloading equipment and materials
  • Working independently when required
  • Working side-by-side with a helper or technician on larger projects
  • Participating in emergency and after-hours response when required

  • Knows how to set up and work a water mitigation project

  • Works well with a helper when one is assigned
  • Takes pride in keeping their truck and equipment organized
  • Pays attention to job documentation
  • Communicates clearly with customers and management
  • Understands the urgency of emergency restoration work
  • Shows up on time and prepared
  • Takes ownership of their work
  • Treats customers' homes and businesses with respect
  • Wants to continue growing in the restoration industry
Experience We're Looking For
  • Previous water damage mitigation / restoration experience required
  • Prior Crew Chief, Lead Technician, or Senior Restoration Technician experience preferred
  • Experience with water extraction and structural drying
  • Experience performing demolition and removal of damaged building materials
  • Experience setting containment
  • Experience with air movers, dehumidifiers, HEPA air scrubbers, and extraction equipment
  • Experience using moisture meters and documenting moisture readings
  • Understanding of drying procedures and equipment placement
  • Ability to properly document a mitigation project
  • IICRC certifications are highly preferred
  • WRT certification preferred
  • ASD, AMRT, FSRT, or additional IICRC certifications are a plus
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record required
This Is a Hands-On Position

We want to be clear: this is not an office or supervisory position.

You will be working in the field every day performing mitigation work.

Candidates must be able to:

  • Lift and carry restoration equipment and building materials
  • Perform demolition and physical restoration work
  • Move dehumidifiers, air movers, and other equipment
  • Work in residential and commercial buildings
  • Work in basements, crawlspaces, attics, and other jobsite environments
  • Wear appropriate PPE when required
  • Safely operate power tools and restoration equipment
  • Work occasional evenings, weekends, and emergency assignments when necessary
