Attendance Clerk and Climate Specialist - Irving School
DescriptionThe Attendance Clerk and Climate Specialist for Irving School will work collaboratively with all staff to monitor and improve student attendance and student behavior.
Qualifications- Experience working with youth in a school environment
- Knowledge of PMT, ABA, Restorative Practices, and PBIS preferred
- DCF Mandated Reporter Training Certified
- Promote a safe and positive educational environment
- Monitor in‑school suspension when necessary
- Supervise arrival, dismissal, lunch and recess when necessary
- Assist classroom teachers with challenging behaviors throughout the day
- Work collaboratively with staff to promote a positive and safe learning environment
- Review daily attendance and collaborate with staff, students, and family members to ensure daily student attendance
- Assists in managing behavioral concerns to minimize disruptions
- Ensure a safe and orderly school environment
- Assist pupil personnel and teachers in creating and implementing plans and strategies to deal with challenging behaviors
- Monitors daily attendance, chronic attendance patterns, and trends that affect learning (late arrival and early dismissal)
- Contacts, educates, and offer support to parents in regards to importance of attendance and resources available to assist families
- Assists students in non‑instructional areas such as supervising the student lunch programs, bus duty, playground duty, hallway, and other non‑instructional areas as needed
- Under the direct supervision of the school Principal, provide supervision and academic support to students who are in a school‑based in‑school suspension program
- Support PBIS and attendance initiatives by building positive relationships with students, staff, and families
- Establish supportive and compassionate relationships with students supervised
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students and staff
- Work with diverse student groups
- Maintain confidentiality concerning students and staff
- Ability to carry out written and oral instructions
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide, and perform arithmetic operations as needed to assist students
- Proficient in computer use and Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Effective writing and verbal communication skills
