St. Mary-St. Michael School, a Catholic elementary school in Derby, CT, is searching for a full-time Pre-K 4 Teacher for the  academic year. Founded in 1885, St. Mary-St. Michael School strives to provide the opportunity for each child to receive an excellent education; preparing them for a lifetime of learning centered on Catholic Social Teachings.

Responsibilities would include creating an engaging learning environment that fosters academic and spiritual growth, develops Pre-Kindergarten 4 students’ skills and a love of learning. The candidate should be competent at lesson planning and instructing and ensuring Pre-K 4 students’ spiritual and academic growth.

Develop and implement daily lesson plans that address spiritual, emotional, physical, and growth.

Use diverse instructional techniques such as modeling, observing, questioning, demonstrating, and reinforcing.

Adapt curriculum to meet individual learning needs.

Promote positive behavior through redirection, positive reinforcement, and adherence to the school’s behavioral policies.

Maintain positive communication with families through newsletters, daily updates, and as-needed outreach.

Attend regular staff meetings and participate in annual reviews and professional development.

Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, and staff.

Bachelor's degree and ECE or Teacher Certification are required.

Minimum of 2 years classroom experience.

Demonstrated ability to create engaging, age-appropriate lessons.

Commitment to fostering a nurturing, inclusive, and faith-based environment.

Commitment to the principles of Catholic Social Teaching.
