FLSA STATUS This position is classified as NON-EXEMPT under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Compensation, including overtime when applicable, will follow federal wage and hour regulations and the personnel policies and procedures of Change Incorporated.
---WORK SCHEDULE Services are provided Sunday through Saturday with the following shift options:
• 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM
• 1:00 PM – 6:00 PMShift assignments are determined based on the participant’s needs. Services are primarily delivered in the participant’s home and may include assistance with essential errands or appointments when necessary.
---PURPOSE The Heavy Personal Care Assistant (PCA) provides direct support to the participant by assisting with personal care and daily living activities that the participant is unable to perform independently due to physical or psychiatric limitations. These services help ensure the participant’s safety, comfort, and ability to remain in their home environment.
---DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Personal Care and Mobility Assistance
• Assist with heavy personal care needs including transfers and mobility support.
• Assist with dressing, grooming, bathing, toileting, and personal hygiene.
• Provide support with positioning and movement to ensure participant comfort and safety.
Household and Daily Living Support
• Assist with meal planning and preparation.
• Assist with grocery shopping and obtaining household necessities.
• Perform light housekeeping tasks including washing dishes, laundry, vacuuming, dusting, and changing linens.
• Support basic household tasks such as proper food storage, maintaining a comfortable home environment, and general organization.
Safety and Emergency Awareness
• Recognize and respond appropriately to emergency situations.
• Ensure appropriate use of emergency medical services when necessary.
Supportive Interaction and Companionship
• Maintain a respectful and supportive relationship with the participant.
• Provide companionship through conversation and engagement in simple recreational or leisure activities.
