Deli Specialist

Job Summary

Slices, packages, weighs, and sells various deli products, including meats and cheeses. Maintains the presentation and cleanliness of the deli, including deli display cases. Provides assistance to Members in the deli department.

• Ensure all items are stocked, promotional plans executed, signage visible and accurate, and the area is clean and organized.
• Know your business by using production and financial performance reporting for the department.
• Check daily for out‑of‑date products and apply product salvage policies.
• Operate and handle deli equipment in accordance with safety policies and procedures.
• Cleans and sanitizes deli equipment and food surfaces throughout the department.
• Ensure scale systems are functioning and prices are accurate.
• Perform other duties as assigned and support other departments as needed.
• Ensure regular, predictable, full attendance.

• Answer questions and recommend deli items.
• Answer member calls and take special orders.
• Slices, packages, and weighs deli products.
• Help members select correct products.
• Sample product to assist purchasing decisions.
• Prepare and package special orders and party trays.
• Receive and inspect deli shipments.
• Display, stock, rotate, and store deli products.
• Ensure all products are fresh and meet quality standards.
• Keep deli cooler shelves and display cases well‑stocked.
• Stock and rotate deli items when necessary.
• Operate and handle deli equipment per safety policies.
• Ensure scale systems are in working order.
• Perform heavy lifting up to 30 pounds; may require assistance for heavier items.
• Work in a comfortable indoor environment with temperature extremes from freezers, ovens, and coolers.
• Avoid frequent exposure to cleaning agents.

• Work experience in a deli department preferred.
• Prior experience operating manual/power slicers and scales preferred.
• Knowledge of deli products preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and commitment to safety.

Most of the time is spent moving about frequently on hard surfaces, often bending, reaching, or stooping. Frequently required to lift objects up to 30 pounds; may require assistance for heavier items. Working in an indoor environment exposed to temperature extremes from freezers, ovens, and coolers. Frequent exposure to cleaning agents.

The pay range for this position is $18.50 - $22.67 per hour. Actual salaries will vary based on location, education, experience, and qualifications.
