Derby Public Schools is seeking a district-level K12 Science and K5 Math Instructional Coordinator for the school year. As a member of the Teaching and Learning team, this position provides instructional leadership and support to teachers through curriculum alignment, coaching, and professional learning in standards-based science, math, and STEM practices.
The coordinator partners with educators to design and implement engaging, hands-on learning experiences that promote curiosity, problem-solving, and real-world application, strengthening instruction and student achievement across the district.

Job Description
Purpose:
Responsible for the development, delivery, implementation, and monitoring of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) curriculum, initiatives, and educational opportunities for all Derby Public School students.
Responsible to:
Assistant Superintendent/Curriculum and Instruction

Qualifications:
1. Current Kansas State Teaching License.
2. Master degree in Math or Science preferred.
3. Technology certifications or industry credentials preferred.
4. Three years certified teaching experience.
5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board finds appropriate and acceptable.
Essential Functions:
1. Knowledge, Skill and Abilities
a. Thorough knowledge of mathematical and scientific concepts.
b. Experience using technology to design and implement integrated real-world science and math experiences aligned to industry standards.
c. Technology literate with the ability to lead and support the meaningful integration of technology into daily instruction.
d. Provide professional leadership in curriculum design and instructional delivery for all students.
e. Communicate effectively with district staff.
f. Support and enhance the development of student assessments.
g. Comply with all district policies, rules and regulations.

Environmental Conditions:
a. Requires the ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods.
b. Occasionally requires the ability to stoop, bend and reach.
c. Requires the ability to travel.
d. Must be able to work in noisy and crowded environments.

General Responsibilities:
Curriculum
1. Assist in the development of STEM curriculum aligned with career pathways that ensure integration of academic and career technical education with 21st century skills.
2. Organize, develop, coordinate and provide trainings for administrators and professional staff related to Science, Math, Engineering and Technology (STEM) best practices.
3. Provide staff leadership to ensure the understanding and support of educational goals in the district through collaboration with teachers.
4. Interpret and facilitate implementation of the district's curriculum.
5. Provide staff leadership in ways that the curriculum can be adjusted through scaffolding, differentiation, modification and accommodation to meet the special learning needs of all children.
6. Participate in proposed and ongoing curriculum development projects through K-12 review.
7. Engage, as assigned, in research related to curriculum development.
8. Assist with the creation of edits for publication of all curriculum guides, curriculum maps, and materials prepared by and to be distributed among the instructional staff.
9. Facilitate the ongoing process of mapping the K-12 curriculum utilizing current technology resources for developing, analyzing, and aligning the curriculum vertically and horizontally.
10. Stay current with educational research, trends, and best practices by participating in conferences and training opportunities that support and expand on the goals of the district.
Technology and Resources
11. Take a lead role in reviewing and recommending software, instructional technologies, and digital resources for classroom use that reflect learning and the Kansas Standards.
12. Serve as a consultant in the selection of instructional and technology supplies, equipment and resources.
13.Stay current with informational and trends, including knowledge of new databases, educational materials and technology tools.
