Position Overview

Derby Middle School is seeking a World Language Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year. The primary assignment will be Spanish, with the possibility of teaching additional languages.

Employee benefits include uncategorized PTO, paid parental leave and we accept PDC for salary placement. Salary schedule available in the Certified Employee Master Contract handbook (page
8).

Responsible to:
Principal and/or Program Director.

Salary and Contract

Salary based on experience and education: $50,003 - $85,354. Regular teacher contract is currently 184.5 days. Annual contract salary.

Purpose

The Classroom Instructor creates a positive learning environment to facilitate the personal, social, and intellectual development of students. In order to respond to the individual needs and abilities of students, the Classroom Instructor must work closely with other staff and the administration of Derby Public Schools.

  • Maintain accurate records.
  • Contribute to the school and district.
  • Grow and develop professionally.
  • Coordinate and supervise field trips.
  • Assist with the activities of student organizations.
  • Attend and assist when necessary with school events such as musical programs, athletics, student recognition ceremonies, graduation and open house.
  • See that district policies are observed during all activities.
  • Obtain advance approval of the principal for all activities and expenditures.
  • Adhere to all district health and safety policies.
  • Other duties as assigned by the principal or other administrative staff, which are consistent with the general requirements and qualifications of the position.

    Physical Requirements /Environmental Conditions
    • Requires the ability to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods.

    • Occasional requires the ability to stoop, bend and reach.
    • Must be able to work indoors and outdoors year-round.
    • Must be able to work in noisy and crowded environments.
    • Requires regular attendance and/or physical presence at the job.
    Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college/university.
  • Current Kansas State Teaching License on file in the Central Office.
  • Desire to continue career improvement.
