Position: SCHOOL NURSE 7.75 HOURS/ 1 DAY PER WEEK

School Nurse – Oaklawn Elementary Schools (2026‑2027 School Year)

Position open until filled. Salary: $50,003 – $85,354 (Annual Contract, Exempt).

Responsibilities
  • Help students attain an optimum level of physical, social, and emotional health.
  • Coordinate a comprehensive student health program in collaboration with staff and administration.
  • Establish and maintain health programs for students and district employees.
  • Ensure all activities conform to school district guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively with all members of the school district and with community organizations.
  • React to change productively and handle additional tasks as assigned.
  • Operate required equipment and support the philosophy and mission of the district.
  • Conduct student health appraisals, including nursing assessments, vision screenings, hearing screenings, weighing, and measuring.
  • Follow up on noted problems and consult with teachers and parents regarding health concerns.
  • Maintain immunization records for each student and communicate immunization requirements to parents.
  • Coordinate a comprehensive program for caring for students who are injured or become ill at school.
  • Provide faculty and staff with first‑aid training and supplies as appropriate.
  • Provide emergency care for accidental or sudden illnesses of pupils until parents assume responsibility.
  • Notify parents and building administrators regarding children who are severely ill or injured.
  • Report school accidents to the Director of Operations.
  • Enforce and monitor medication guidelines.
Qualifications
  • Current Kansas Board of Nursing License (Registered Nurse) or BSN in nursing.
  • CPR certification.
  • One year of registered nurse experience preferred.
  • Certified (or willing to obtain) in audiological screening after hiring.
