Special Education Teacher – Cooper Elementary (2026‑2027)
Location:
Cooper Elementary.
Salary: $50,003 – $85,354 (based on experience and education).
Contract:
184.5 days. Uncategorised PTO, paid parental leave. Salary placement accepted.

Job DescriptionThe Classroom Instructor creates a positive learning environment to facilitate the personal, social, and intellectual development of students. The instructor works closely with other staff and the administration of Derby Public Schools.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university.
- Current Kansas State Teaching License on file in the Central Office.
- Desire to continue career improvement.
- Ability to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods.
- Occasional need to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials.
- Occasional need to stoop, bend and reach.
- Must be able to work indoors and outdoors year-round.
- Must be able to work in noisy and crowded environments.
- Requires regular attendance and/or physical presence at the job.
- Responsible to Principal and/or Program Director.
- Use planning and preparation time effectively.
- Promote a positive classroom environment.
- Provide quality instruction.
- Demonstrate appropriate professional responsibilities.
