Position Summary
Oaklawn Elementary School is seeking an Elementary R.I.S.E. Teacher for the 2026‑2027 school year. The teacher will work with students who have been long‑term suspended or expelled, in partnership with a paraprofessional, to provide academic instruction and social‑emotional support while helping students transition back into their classrooms.
Responsibilities- Provide academic instruction and social‑emotional support to R.I.S.E. students.
- Collaborate with a paraprofessional to create a positive learning environment.
- Support students’ transition back into regular classrooms.
- Implement classroom instruction per district standards.
- Plan and prepare lessons, use available resources, and assess student learning.
- Promote a positive classroom environment and demonstrate professional responsibilities.
- Respond to change productively and handle tasks assigned by the district.
- Comply with district policies, rules, and regulations.
- Work with other staff and administration to meet individual student needs.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Current Kansas State Teaching License on file in the Central Office.
- Desire to continue career improvement and professional development.
- For elementary teachers, an ESOL endorsement is required by the end of the third year with the district (options to pursue via Canvas course and exam reimbursement).
- Ability to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods.
- Occasional ability to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects.
- Occasional ability to stoop, bend, and reach.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors year‑round in noisy and crowded environments, with regular attendance and presence required.
Salary is based on experience and education, ranging from $50,003 to $85,354. The teacher contract is currently 184.5 days. Employee benefits include uncategorized paid time off (PTO), paid parental leave, and professional development credits (PDC) for salary placement.
