Make an impact supporting students with significant disabilities in a welcoming school setting near Derby, KS. This contract position offers the opportunity to truly engage with students, fostering growth and providing tailored instruction through the school year. Two positions are available—one at the elementary level and one at the secondary—each with a manageable caseload of approximately 10 students. Both roles require full‑time (35-40 hours per week) onsite commitment, ensuring students receive the consistent support they need.
WhatWe're Looking For
- Valid and present low‑incidence special education teaching license (required for consideration)
- Previous experience supporting students with significant disabilities is highly preferred
- Ability and willingness to work full-time, in-person (no virtual work accommodated)
- Skilled in developing individualized education plans (IEPs) and progress monitoring
- Strong communication skills with students, colleagues, and families
- Flexibility to adjust teaching approaches based on student needs
- Providing specialized instruction for a caseload of around 10 students in either an elementary or secondary setting
- Crafting and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Collaborating with general education staff and related service providers
- Adapting curriculum materials according to best practices for low-incidence disabilities
- Offering consistent, compassionate support to each student’s unique abilities and challenges
- Maintaining communication with families and ensuring thorough documentation
