Elementary School
Elementary Teacher (S.T.E.A.M Classroom Teacher) position at Tanglewood Elementary School for the school year. STEAM stands for science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. STEAM education is an educational model that incorporates the arts into traditional STEM subjects, such as visual arts, language arts, music, and physical arts. It aims to encourage creativity, imagination, and innovation through a holistic learning approach that combines scientific inquiry with artistic expression.
Employee benefits include uncategorized PTO, paid parental leave, and acceptance of Professional Development Credits (PDC) for salary placement. A copy of the salary schedule can be found starting on page 8 of the Certified Employee Master Contract handbook. The salary ranges from $50,003 to $85,354, based on experience and education. Elementary classroom teachers, as well as middle and high school language arts teachers, are required to obtain an ESOL endorsement by the end of their third year with the district. Requirements for obtaining the endorsement are determined by the Kansas State Department of Education and may include coursework and/or passing the appropriate exam. The district provides a Canvas course to help teachers prepare for the exam and reimburses the exam cost once the endorsement is completed and added to the teacher's license.
ClassroomInstructor
The Classroom Instructor creates a positive learning environment to facilitate the personal, social, and intellectual development of students. They must work closely with other staff and the administration of Derby Public Schools to respond to the individual needs and abilities of students.
