Job Purpose
The Automation Engineer I will focus on automation projects, use broad spectrum engineering expertise to design, implement, install, and support the creation of high-quality controls, machines, automation and other mechanically or electronically functioning equipment to support advancing manufacturing processes both within the BG ecosystem, and the general industry through BG Automation industrial equipment sales. The Automation Engineer I will apply engineering expertise to proactively identify problems and creatively provide solutions.
This position will be responsible for leading and assisting in project planning, research and development, prototyping, testing, and release to manufacturing of new, and improvements to existing, Automation equipment.
- Adhere to company policies and presents a professional, positive attitude at all times.
- Hands-on experience designing, programming, integrating, and commission industrial robotic systems, with a preference for FANUC, ABB, Yaskawa (Motoman), and/or KUKA platforms.
- Working knowledge of PLC and HMI systems, including programing, troubleshooting, and integration using Rockwell Automation (Allen-Bradley) and/or Siemns platforms.
- Ability to design, document, and maintain electrical schematics, control panel layouts, and system documentation in accordance with applicable standards and best practices.
- Experience supporting automation projects through the full lifecycle, including concept development, testing, debugging, startup, and production support in a manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with robotic simulation, offline programming, or virtual commissioning tools is a plus.

- BS in Engineering
Required:
Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Robotics, & Manufacturing Disciplines are Preferred or experience in lieu of education will be considered. - 4 years’ experience in manufacturing equipment/tool design/development preferred.
- 4 years’ experience in design for manufacturing preferred.
- 2 years’ experience in integration of robotics and automation preferred.
- Expert use of CAD is required. Solidworks experience preferred.
- Experience in plant layout or offline programming software highly preferred. Visual Components, Octopuz, KUKA Sim experience preferred.
- A minimum of two successful design to iteration to implementation Automation support projects completed is required.
- Valid driver’s license required.
