DSL Express and partners are hiring CDL-A Truck Drivers – OTR Solo and Teams to run a newly updated and modernized fleet. Company drivers with 2+ years of experience and a decent MVR/PSP score are preferred. Positions are open immediately. We are recruiting primarily from Kansas and the Derby, KS area but are open to candidates from other states.

Typical Pay Highlights
  • 30% Line Haul + Bonuses (most popular for solos)

  • Up to 60 cents per mile (automatic drivers)
  • Up to 65 cents per mile (manual drivers)
  • Well over $104K+ per year on percentage (up to $145k top end)

Average Pay Per Week: $1,900 – $2,400 per week, with some peaks reaching $2,700+ on legal hours. Pay is performance based and we offer 30% of the gross with the option to switch to miles pay at any time. Seasonal averages: slow season $1,900–$2,100, peak season $2,100–$2,400. Peak seasons are higher overall.

Preferred Percentage Based Solo Driver Pay – Better in this 1‑to‑2 Day Run Market

  • Average pay in peak season: $2,100–$2,400, rare best weeks over $2,700.
  • Average miles on percentage pay: 2,000–2,500 miles in slow season, up to 3,000 in busy season.
Standard Miles Based Solo Driver Pay – For Those Who Prefer
  • Option to switch at any time to up to 60 cents per mile plus bonuses, up to 65 cents for manual drivers.
  • Average miles on miles pay: 2,500–3,600 miles per week.
  • Average gross income: $1,600–$2,400 legal max per week per driver.
Team Driver Pay (Miles Based Pay Only)
  • Available for drivers with a team member.
  • Up to 75 cents per mile plus bonuses, depending on experience and MVR.
  • Average miles: 5,500–7,000 per week.
  • Average gross income: $4,100–$5,200 per week total split.
  • Current market is not favorable for teams. Solos on percentage do better.

Job Description
  • Must have a Class A CDL. Additional endorsements are a bonus.
  • Minimum 2 years CDL experience.
  • Clean MVR and reasonable PSP report.
  • Dry vans or reefer work available.
  • No touch freight policy.
  • Residence location is not a requirement.
  • Unlimited miles within ELD compliance but we promote reduced miles on percentage for profitability and safety.

Driver Requirements
  • OTR truck driving requires health and willingness to work.
  • Minimum of 2 years of driving experience.
  • Valid CDL Class A without pending suspensions.
  • Ability to operate modern ELD systems.
  • Must pass a drug test; no acceptations.
  • Valid medical card issued.
  • Stable work history and good references.
  • No more than 3 moving violations or accidents in the last 3 years.
  • No failed or refused drug or alcohol tests in the last 4 years.
  • No DWI, DUI, or BAC violations in the last 4 years.
  • No reckless driving convictions in the last 3 years.
  • No license suspension for points or unpaid tickets in the last 3 years.
  • No more than 2 moving violations in the last year.
  • Provide at least 3 years of verifiable work history. Non‑driving work history for the past 3 years will also be verified.
