24-Hour Call Model | Independent Overnight Coverage | Community Hospital | Medaxion EMR
Rhino Medical is leading the charge seeking a Board Certified Anesthesiologist (MD/DO) for a consistent locum tenens opportunity in Derry, New Hampshire . This assignment offers structured 24-hour call shifts within a collegial, efficient community hospital environment serving southern New Hampshire.
This role is ideal for Anesthesiologists comfortable practicing independently overnight while working within a medically directed daytime care team model.
Assignment Highlights
Location:
Derry, NH
Setting: Community Hospital Anesthesia Department
Annual Case Volume: ~2,400
Average Daily Cases: ~7
Anesthetizing Rooms: 5
EMR: Medaxion
Coverage Model:
4 MDs
3 CRNAs
Medically directed daytime model
MD-only in-house call (no CRNA pager coverage)
Schedule & Shift Structure
Six (6) 24-hour shifts per month
7:00 AM – 7:00 AM (Day shift + beeper call)
Post-call day off
One weekend call per month
Friday 7:00 AM – Monday 7:00 AM
Post-call Monday off
Weekend coverage via pager
Possible additional weekday day shifts:
7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Night and weekend coverage is handled via pager. The on-call physician is always an MD. No CRNA backup pager coverage.
Practice Model
Medically directed anesthesia care team
CRNAs formulate their own anesthetic plans
No MD co-sign required for CRNA documentation
Overnight coverage requires independent MD practice
CRNAs may run a late weekday room but do not carry call or return overnight.
Clinical Scope
Broad community hospital anesthesia including:
General surgical cases
Regional anesthesia
Peripheral nerve blocks
Required Skills:
Proficiency in regional anesthesia and nerve blocks is mandatory.
Candidate Requirements
Board Certified Anesthesiologist (ABA or AOBA)
Active, unrestricted medical license
Comfortable practicing independently overnight
Strong regional anesthesia experience
Board Certification is mandatory due to independent overnight coverage responsibilities.
Credentialing & Onboarding
Standard hospital credentialing timeline
Orientation provided
Post-call days off built into schedule
