They seek a Senior Principal Mechanical Engineer to strengthen their engineering and deliver advanced automation solutions for markets such as Medical Devices, Life Sciences, Automotive, Renewable Energy, and Precision Manufacturing.

About the RoleAs a Senior Principal Mechanical Engineer, you will take ownership of large, complex automation projects as the technical lead and point person for customers. You’ll define project concepts, direct engineering design, oversee schedules and budgets, and provide mentorship across a 20-40 person engineering team. You’ll contribute hands-on technical expertise while guiding proposals, ensuring engineering rigor, and delivering turnkey systems. As the senior technical authority, you’ll support high-level reviews, customer buy-offs, and the successful execution of projects valued at $5–10M+.
Key Responsibilities- Lead mechanical engineering efforts for large-scale, complex automation projects from concept through delivery.
- Define project concepts, establish technical direction, and ensure alignment with customer requirements and industry standards.
- Manage schedules, budgets, and resources for engineering teams of 20–40 members, ensuring on-time and on-budget project delivery.
- Mentor and guide engineers across the organization, promoting best practices, technical excellence, and innovation.
- Provide hands-on design, prototyping, validation, and testing support for high-reliability automation systems.
- Oversee technical reviews, customer presentations, and approvals, serving as the primary technical point of contact.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with project management, controls, software, and manufacturing teams to deliver turnkey automation solutions.
- Contribute to proposals and technical bids, ensuring accurate scope, feasibility, and risk assessment.
- 10–15+ years in mechanical engineering within automation, ideally medical device/life sciences or high-precision manufacturing.
- Proven system integration experience for manufacturing—from concept through delivery.
- Track record delivering $5–10M custom automation projects, managing technical direction for large engineering teams (20-40 FTE).
- Proficiency in CAD software (Solid Works required; familiarity with additional platforms a plus).
- Expertise in mechanical prototyping, validation, and testing of high-reliability products.
- Ability to provide technical leadership and mentorship, raising engineering standards across a team.
- Excellent documentation, communication, and organizational skills.
