Mechanical Design Engineer (Medium-Voltage Product Development)

Vertiv is a global provider of critical digital infrastructure and continuity solutions. We manufacture a range of medium‑voltage switch gear for both the European and North American markets.
We are seeking a dynamic Mechanical Design Engineer to contribute to the innovation and enhancement of our medium‑voltage switch gear product line. In this role you will shape the future of our offerings, drive the design, development, and support for new product launches, and ensure products meet market demands, industry standards, and customer needs. The position involves frequent interaction with Offering Management, Marketing, Sales, and other internal departments.
Responsibilities- Define product specifications, features, and functionalities while ensuring adherence to safety and regulatory standards.
- Develop product designs in accordance with product standards (e.g., IEC 62271, IEEE C37.20.2).
- Create 3D models and 2D drawings in the required projection views.
- Align with a culture of innovation that encourages creative thinking and idea generation.
- Work closely with external suppliers and partners to source components and materials.
- Adhere to the department’s NPDI process and complete relevant documentation.
- Stay current with technological advancements and industry developments, applying relevant knowledge to enhance product offerings.
- Build prototypes to support design development.
- Follow the engineering change process for existing products.
- Demonstrate ethics and integrity.
- Conduct product risk assessment through DFMEA.
- Organize drawings and documentation for efficient reference.
- Provide timely, accurate responses to requests for design information and drawings.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, design technology, or a related field.
- Proficiency in 3D modelling using Creo, Solid Works, or an equivalent CAD package.
- Experience in 3D modeling, 2D drafting (first angle and third angle projection), and GD&T.
- Proficiency with product lifecycle management (PLM) software and other relevant applications.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment.
- Excellent time‑management skills.
- Minimum of 2+ years of design experience in a manufacturing environment or related field.
