About The Job

The Administrative Director, Emergency Services, leads Elliot Health Systems (EHS) Emergency service line across multiple sites, overseeing strategic planning, policy development, and overall administrative direction for the Emergency Department and Urgent Care Centers. The Director reports to the Chief Medical Officer and collaborates with the Medical Director of Emergency Services and the Nursing Director of Emergency Services. Responsibilities include strategic execution, operational leadership, financial stewardship, clinical quality oversight, governance, and workforce development to advance patient‑centered care across the system.

You’ll Do Strategic & Business Planning
  • Participate in system‑wide strategic development and deployment of long‑term and annual goals.
  • Maintain an in‑depth understanding of the value chain and episodes of care from access to post‑acute services and drive operational and financial decisions.
  • Identify market trends, growth opportunities, and emerging technologies to guide service line evolution.
  • Ensure services are clinically and financially sound and responsive to the changing health‑care environment locally, regionally, and nationally.
  • Guide the development, expansion, and integration of new and existing programs, including the Virtual

    ER.
  • Deploy Elliot’s mission and vision to all areas of the 5

    Cs (Comprehensive, Confident, Coordinated, Convenient, Cost‑Conscious).
  • Implement digital health tools and innovations to enhance care delivery and patient engagement.
Direct Operational Leadership
  • Provide administrative oversight of all Emergency Services and programs, including staffing, performance, throughput, and care delivery optimization.
  • Ensure ongoing growth of the Virtual

    ER program and disseminate virtual care to other parts of the organization.
  • Collaborate with nursing and physician leaders to manage daily operations, ensuring patient access, clinical workflow, provider productivity, and efficient use of resources.
  • Design and manage programs that reflect the full continuum of care and support optimal outcomes at every stage.
  • Embed and sustain the Elliot Management System.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and operational transparency through visible leadership and Lean management tools.
  • Select and maintain qualified personnel, identify needs, recommend actions, and communicate progress.
  • Develop succession planning and leadership development strategies for key roles.
  • Supervise the call‑back team and the practice manager.
Financial Responsibility and Resource Planning
  • Develop and manage operational budgets, ensuring fiscal discipline and value‑based decision‑making.
  • Collaborate with Revenue Cycle leadership to optimize billing.
  • Leverage clinical decision support and analytic tools to inform cost of care, contribution margins, and performance.
  • Work with finance and analytics teams to ensure clinical decisions are data‑driven.
Clinical and Quality Oversight
  • Deliver high‑quality services that respond to patient, community, and provider needs and meet regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with clinical leaders to provide evidence‑based, patient‑and family‑centered care.
  • Advance continuous improvement, quality and safety initiatives, and consistency across the continuum.
  • Integrate programs into the Elliot Quality Management System, aligned with Just Culture and Whole System Quality principles.
  • Improve patient and family experiences.
Governance and Collaboration
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and respect for people within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Partner with senior leaders, physician and nursing leadership, and governance bodies to advance shared priorities.
  • Collaborate with medical staff and administration on service expansion, new interventions, program design, and workforce strategies.
  • Serve as liaison to external partners and vendors.
  • Maintain excellent communication with all partners.
