The State of New Hampshire, Division for Children, Youth & Families, Sununu Youth Services Center has a full‑time vacancy for Director of Secure Treatment Services
SUMMARYThe Director of the Sununu Youth Services Center (SYSC) provides overall strategic and operational leadership for the State’s sole secure treatment facility for adjudicated and detained youth. The Director oversees all programmatic, personnel, fiscal, regulatory, physical plant, and facilities management functions to ensure safe, secure, trauma‑informed, and therapeutic residential services. This role leads the development and implementation of a unified operating philosophy that blends trauma‑informed treatment with security requirements and ensures that SYSC’s mission, vision, and Practice Model principles are consistently upheld across multidisciplinary residential, educational, and clinical programs.

Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCEEducation:
Master’s degree from a recognized college or university with major study in business administration, criminal justice, sociology, social work, psychology, or related field. Training in adolescent development and behavioral health is highly recommended.
Experience :
Eight years of progressive executive‑level leadership experience in an organization focused on residential youth rehabilitation/treatment programs, human service delivery programs implementing trauma‑informed care for adolescents, or other public‑sector programs serving youth with complex behavioral health needs and court involvement. Experience must include advanced communication and conflict resolution skills, leading improvements in youth outcomes, developing a positive facility‑wide culture, and building a strong leadership team, while also establishing and maintaining excellent rapport with staff at all levels, including union representatives.
At least four of these years must have been in a management‑level position with administrative responsibilities related to program administration, supervision, planning, evaluation, or comparable management functions. Experience working with external stakeholders, including policymakers, advocates, and/or regulatory agencies, is preferred.
