Job Summary And Qualifications

Position Summary:

Assist physicians in performing nurse procedures for the comfort and wellbeing of patients. This includes interviews, medical histories, injections, completing lab and other diagnostic requests, administering prescribed medications and simple treatment and education of the patient as directed by the physician or non-physician provider.

Essential Functions
  • Contributes to appropriate assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care.
  • Ensures patient safety and protection; collects and records data on patient condition including vital signs.
  • Uses/manages equipment safely and appropriately.
  • Administers medications including injections and treatments within the scope of practice and training.
  • Greeting patients, escorting to evaluation room and preparing them for examination or procedure.
  • Preparing exam/treatment supplies and equipment and assisting MD/NP during treatment, examination and testing of patients.
  • Triaging patients (both on site and in terms of scheduling) for a smooth and productive flow.
  • Communicates with patients, team members, and management in an accurate, timely manner.
  • Talks with, listens to patients/team members; reports pertinent, concise information; completes charting in a timely manner; manages computer charting/ordering as appropriate; protects confidentiality of patient/colleagues.
  • Notes problem list/abnormality for MD/NP.
  • Observes, records and reports patient conditions and reaction to medications and treatment.
  • Responding to and screening telephone calls for referral to nurse or physician.
  • Manages Medical Records: ensures that patient chart entries are made accurately and in a timely manner and forwards charts as appropriate.
  • Organizes multitask workload; prioritizes tasks/work; seeks assistance as necessary; collects data from multiple sources as necessary; organizes/delivers care for multiple patient assignment under the direction of and in collaboration with MD/NP.
  • Understands the impact illness/hospitalization have on patients/families; adapts care delivery for diverse populations and environments; advocates for needs of clients; provides care in ethical and legal manner; refers concerns/issues to MD/NP.
  • Uses equipment and supplies appropriately; maintains clean, orderly environment of care; ensures traffic control in sensitive areas; seeks out and accepts feedback; requests assistance appropriately; delegates as appropriate, to Licensed Nursing Assistant and or clerical support.
  • Instructs family and patient in follow up instructions for medication and treatment. This may include contacting pharmacies for prescription ordering and notifying patients.
  • Applies knowledge integration skills for the patient populations served within unit/area of hire.
  • Provides age‑specific care; applies knowledge of expected norms in provision of care.
  • Administrative support for MD/NP and program:
    Assist with scheduling of tests and treatments;
    Assist with follow‑up scheduling;
    Arrange referrals to additional specialists;
    Obtain and ensure pre‑authorization;
    Clean and restock rooms/office for supplies;
    Maintain stock up to date and monitor and maintain medical equipment;
    Control inventory and monitor the use of supplies;
    Demonstrate specific skills requisite for assigned role and service area in collaboration with the MD/NP.
What qualifications you will need
  • Active New Hampshire nursing license.
  • American Heart Association BCLS.
  • Graduate of Accredited School of Nursing.
  • One to three years of urology nursing experience or clinical rotation in urology department.
