Position: LABORER BERLIN HATCHERY

Hatchery Laborer

Position # SNL 3138

Annual Salary: $14.40 per hour

Department: Fish and Game Department, Inland Fisheries Division, Berlin Hatchery

Location: 3783 York Pond Road, Berlin, NH 03570

Summary

Performs unskilled and semi-skilled laboring tasks at Regional Fish Hatchery and assists with fish distribution.

Experience Counts

Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education:

    8th grade education
  • License/Certification:
    Valid driver’s license
  • Other Requirements:
    Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) must meet minimum standards established by the agency

Responsibilities
  • Clean incubators, tanks, pools and troughs and assist in sterilizing those areas.
  • Weigh and sort fish into lots for stocking ponds and streams.
  • Prepare fish food according to established specifications; dispense food to the fish.
  • Assist in transferring fish from hatchery to hatchery, hatchery to pond or river/stream.
  • Assist in the maintenance of hatchery buildings and grounds equipment, including painting and cleaning hatchery pools.
  • Mow lawns, cut brush and shrubbery, and shovel snow.
  • Conduct student and civic group tours of the facility.
