Job Description
The Courier is responsible for the pick‑up and delivery of water, soil and air samples to and from the laboratory. Maintain the quality, hold time, and turnaround time objectives of the lab. Prepare and deliver bottle orders to clients following the SOP of the lab. Receive and stock all sample control supplies, prepare and ship sample kits and perform sampling events as needed.
Dispose of samples and hazardous waste according to guidelines and carry out any other duties assigned by the department manager.
The Courier will work out of the Derry, New Hampshire lab.
Part‑time hours: 25‑30 hours per week. Compensation: $19‑21 per hour.
Courier Responsibilities- Perform all duties as outlined in the SOP for Couriers.
- Pick up and deliver samples, bottle orders and report to the laboratory for sign‑in and analysis.
- Count and verify sample numbers to ensure chain of custody and sample integrity.
- Check for broken or damaged samples.
- Receive and sign the chain of custody; ensure client signs, dates, and records time.
- Transport samples on ice from client sites to the lab or to a subcontracted laboratory.
- Unload samples and inspect for damage or violated hold times.
- Interact with Project Managers and clients professionally.
- Locate client sites using directions or maps as specified.
- Communicate effectively with the courier coordinator about the schedule.
- Record arrival and departure times in the courier log book.
- Maintain vehicle maintenance records and driving mileage reports.
- Restock supplies when received.
- Verify validity and completeness of bottle orders before delivery.
- Perform duties in accordance with Section 14 of the Transportation and Fleet Safety Manual.
- Comply with the Company’s Driver Evaluation and Qualification Policy.
- Maintain delivery truck in proper working order.
- May be assigned other sample control duties.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.
- Valid state‑issued driver’s license and clean driving record required.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must complete background, drug screen, and driving history checks.
- Must have professional working proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking).

- Self‑motivation and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Willingness to learn new techniques and comply with company policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
