Position: ARTUCULATED DUMP TRUCK (ADT) OPERATOR

The Articulated Dump Truck (ADT) Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of materials across construction sites in support of earthworks and civil engineering projects. Working closely with site teams, the role ensures materials are moved safely and efficiently while maintaining full compliance with Company Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) policies and procedures.

The Articulated Dump Truck (ADT) Operator plays an important role in supporting the smooth and efficient delivery of civil engineering projects by ensuring the safe movement of materials across site. The role requires a proactive approach to safety, effective teamwork and the responsible operation of plant to help maintain productivity and achieve project objectives.

key responsibilities
  • Operate Articulated Dump Trucks (ADTs) safely and efficiently to transport excavated materials, aggregates and other site materials.
  • Carry out daily pre-start inspections and routine machine checks, reporting any defects or maintenance requirements promptly.
  • Perform basic housekeeping and routine maintenance to ensure the machine remains in a safe and serviceable condition.
  • Work collaboratively with site supervisors, excavator operators, ground workers and other site personnel to support the efficient delivery of site operations.
  • Follow site traffic management plans and operate plant in accordance with site rules, risk assessments and method statements.
  • Load, transport and tip materials safely, ensuring loads are secure and suitable for the operating conditions.
  • Maintain good communication with the site team to ensure safe and efficient site operations.
  • Keep work areas tidy and report hazards, incidents, near misses and unsafe conditions promptly.
  • To be aware of all Company Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) policies, procedures and management systems and to ensure their application as they relate to areas of responsibility.
  • Attend training and development activities in person or via eLearning as required.
  • Undertake any such duties as may reasonably be ascribed to the role from time to time.
Skill, knowledge, and experiences
  • Valid CPCS or NPORS (with CPCS hologram) card for ADT operation
  • Experience operating articulated dump trucks in a civil engineering or construction setting
  • A strong understanding of on-site safety and protocols
  • Willingness to travel to various sites across Scotland
