Sr. Accountant

We are partnering with an established manufacturer in Des Moines, IA to staff a Senior Accountant position. Reporting directly to the Controller, this role will play a key part in the monthly close process, financial reporting, account reconciliations, process improvement initiatives, and cross-functional financial analysis. This is a full-time, direct hire role that is onsite at their Des Moines facility but offers a flexible daytime M-F work schedule and opportunities for advancement.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain the general ledger, including journal entries, account reconciliations, account analysis, and month-end close activities.
• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting processes.
• Serve as a key contributor for lease accounting, sales and use tax preparation and filing, and various financial reporting projects.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial decision-making.
• Identify and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency and strengthen internal controls.
• Support compliance initiatives, including Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements, control documentation, and policy adherence.
• Analyze business performance and provide meaningful financial insights to leadership.
• Assist with tax schedules, state sales reporting, and other ad hoc accounting projects.
• Collaborate across departments to improve the accuracy and timeliness of financial information.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience with manufacturing industry experience preferred.
• Experience supporting or leading the month-end close process.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial statements, and financial analysis.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and strong ERP skills. Power BI and AI skills a plus
• Strong attention to detail, analytical ability, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment.
