The Accountant is a collaborative, team-oriented role working closely with multiple departments. This role is responsible for executing the activities of the corporate Finance department, which provides record keeping, financial analysis, planning and reporting, accounting, payroll and incentive compensation for Foster Group. This role is responsible for proactively ensuring accurate entry, reconciliation and reporting of Foster Group's financial records. The Accountant will work primarily at the direction of the Director of Finance.
PrimaryDuties:
Data Entry and Record Keeping
- Accurately record financial transactions
- Verify, record, and process invoices from vendors
- Ensure timely and accurate payments to vendors
- Maintain vendor data, such as names, addresses and contact information
- Verify and record client payments and transactions
- Maintain and update accounting systems and spreadsheets
- Accurately enter and reconcile credit card transactions
- Execute month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing procedures
- Prepare financial statements
- Generate reports for management and other stakeholders
- Assist with tax preparation and filing
- Assist with Budgeting and Forecasting
- Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies, issues and inquiries from vendors and internal staff
- Review accounts receivable and follow up with Billing Business Analyst regarding overdue payments
- Investigate and identify variances between budgeted and actual costs
- Monitor the department's email
- Organize and file financial records
- Assist with payroll processing
- Communicate with clients and vendors
Education/
Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting
- 2-5 years of related work experience required
- Intermediate understanding of MS Office, especially MS Excel, and Accounting Software.
The Accountant will work closely with the Director of Finance and other Finance Department staff. The position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to collaborate with others, the ability to prioritize tasks and responsibilities, and meet deadlines. The person in this position must have the following skills; detail-oriented, high degree of accuracy, time management, data entry, communication, self-starter, critical thinker, analytical and strong problem solving skills.
