The Sr. Accountant is responsible for supporting the financial integrity, reporting, planning, and analysis needs of Grip-Tite Manufacturing. This position requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and the relationship between the income statement, balance sheet, and general ledger, along with the ability to interpret financial information and translate it into meaningful business insight.

The Sr. Accountant will play a vital role in budgeting, forecasting, expense management, financial reporting, account reconciliation, and process improvement. The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently, utilizing technology and automation, analyzing financial information, and partnering with leadership to support sound business decisions.

This position is well suited for an accounting professional who enjoys working in an environment that wants to work beyond transactional accounting functions.

At Grip-Tite, you won't be limited to one small piece of the accounting function. You'll work alongside our Manufacturing Controller and gain hands‑on experience with financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting, ERP utilization, manufacturing operations, and cost accounting. You'll have the opportunity to gain experience how the numbers connect to the business – and how the business decisions ultimately impact the numbers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of the general ledger and ensure financial transactions are accurately recorded and properly classified.
  • Assist with and/or prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reporting.
  • Analyze the income statement and balance sheet and investigate unusual trends, fluctuations, variances, or discrepancies.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
  • Participate in the month-end and year-end closing processes and identify opportunities to improve the accuracy and efficiency of the close.
  • Support the development of the Company's annual budget and periodic financial forecasts.
  • Monitor actual financial performance against budgets and forecasts and provide meaningful variance analysis.
  • Assist management with expense management, including identifying trends, cost drivers, and opportunities to reduce unnecessary spending.
  • Develop financial reports, dashboards, and analyses that help leadership better understand business performance.
  • Support cash-flow analysis and financial planning activities.
  • Improve accounting procedures, internal controls, documentation, and financial processes.
  • Utilize accounting systems, spreadsheets, reporting tools, and automation technology to improve efficiency and reduce manual processes.
  • Assist with fixed-asset accounting, capital expenditures, depreciation schedules, and related reconciliations as needed.
  • Support annual financial audits and provide requested schedules and documentation.
  • Assist with inventory accounting, manufacturing variances, product costing, and cost analysis as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with operations and other departments to understand how business activity impacts financial performance.
  • Protect company assets and confidential financial, employee, customer, and company information.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of five years of professional accounting or finance experience.
  • Strong understanding of: general ledger accounting, income statements, balance sheets, account reconciliations, financial reporting, budget and forecasting, and expense management.
