The Iowa Department of Inspections, Appeals, and Licensing (DIAL) is seeking a highly motivated, skilled, solution-oriented, and enthusiastic individual to join our regulatory department and serve as a Unit Supervisor within our Professional Licensing Division at our central office near Valley Junction in Des Moines, Iowa.

Administrative Hearings, Building & Construction, Health & Safety, Investigations, Labor/OSHA, Licensing, Workers’ Compensation, and Administration.

The Unit Supervisor position reports to the Division Administrator of the Professional Licensing Division, and will supervise a team of business analysts charged with implementing a large-scale database project. Experience working in the Professional Licensing Division, and with licensure databases, is desirable. An educational background in business administration is also desirable. This position will be located at 6200 Park Avenue in Des Moines.

What You’ll Do

You will be an integral member of our Licensing Division’s business analyst team, providing direct support to the agency’s operations by:

  • Managing and supervising a team of business analysts charged with implementing the Administrative Licensing & Inspection Governance Network (ALIGN).
  • Facilitating standardization of processes for boards and programs involved in ALIGN.
  • Identifying and implementing new or improved procedures for standardizing, modernizing and simplifying processes among 346 license types to help improve outcomes and collaboration across divisions and agencies.
  • Serving as a key member of the ALIGN team, working closely with the project director, other state agencies, vendors, and teams across government.
  • Serving as a liaison between the business and vendors, tracking benchmarks and ensuring inputs and outputs are appropriately measured.
