If you are detail-oriented, naturally curious, and passionate about preserving history, this role offers the opportunity to play a key part in protecting Iowa's rich heritage. The State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO), part of the Iowa Economic Development Authority, is seeking a Program Support Specialist (Temporary) to assist with program support duties related to historic preservation compliance and projects.
This position is classified as a Temporary Worker allowed to work no more than 780 hours this fiscal year and is exempt from all benefits and Merit Rule. It is anticipated this position will consistently work approximately 15 hours per week. The salary range is $16.29 - $23.72 per hour and will report directly to Heather Gibb, State Historic Preservation Officer.
At SHPO, we are committed to identifying, preserving, and protecting Iowa's historic and prehistoric resources. We administer state and federal historic preservation programs and maintain a comprehensive survey and inventory of historic properties across Iowa.
What You'll Do:
As a member of our team, you will:
* Process submissions and perform detailed data entry, ensuring accuracy and completeness of records before projects move to professional review.
* Assist with file maintenance, which may involve lifting boxes.
* Support the scanning and digitization of SHPO records, ensuring documents are accurately categorized, labeled, and easily retrievable.
* Assist with data entry and updates on a variety of topics, identifying inconsistencies and asking questions to ensure data integrity.
* Perform other related programmatic support duties as assigned.
Ideal candidates will have:
* Familiarity with Salesforce and the Microsoft suite of products including Excel.
* Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
* The ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively within a team.
* Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make independent decisions.
